The History Behind our Menu

The Big John Sandwich
The fearless leader of the family.  Our gift of common sense comes from our dad.  Dad taught us the value of hard work, how to do a job and to do it right the first time. Our most memorable job taught to us by dad was how to clean smelt!  He is also our resident maintenance man when he’s not in Florida.  He has a “big” voice, but a heart that’s even bigger
The Lil’ Lois Sandwich
The other fearless leader of the family.  If you’ve met our mom, you know where we get our gift of gab.  She taught us to cook, bake, sew, knit, crochet, clean and even iron pillowcases…all at the same time!  We can multi-task like nobody’s business but we aren’t quite sure where we get our lack of focus…. And, we’ve always believed in the idea of “mentoring” someone so in honor of her we’ve implemented the “Take your mom to work day everyday” here at Crystal Coffee.
The Boss Wrap
Named after the eldest sister, LoAnn, who always thought she was the “Boss of Us.”  Being the salesperson that she is she did well telling us what to do especially when it came to doing her jobs for her. When it came to the Girls Club we started she somehow immediately became the president and used the excuse “well, it’s because I’m the oldest!”  She then made us pay dues to join, and kept all the money!
The Nell Salad
a.k.a. the middle child.  Lynelle was always too young to do what LoAnn did, and too old to get away with what Lori did.  She suffered from hand-me-down syndrome and years of the going through the spanking machine on her birthdays by her siblings. And because she was the middle child, she seemed to miss out on a lot of family gatherings, probably because she was still waiting for someone to find her in her hiding spot.
The Fritz Sandwich
The baby of the family. Lori was called this by Lynelle throughout most of her childhood and came from her middle name Frances. At least Fritz is better than “Lori Frances Johnny’s Welding” which is what she used to think her name was from the ages of 2 years old until about 5 years ago.
The Trios Sandwich
Signature sandwich of the 3 sisters. Need we say more?
The Gracie Sandwich
Named after the Gracyalny Family.  The boys:  John, Jeff and Jerry.  The girls:  Lois, LoAnn, Lynelle and Lori.  A unique sandwich combo for a unique family and nothing is more important in life than family.
The Green Bus Wrap
Our family’s rendition of a motor home.  Being the thrifty guy he was, our dad converted a school bus into a home on wheels complete with bathroom and even a dresser drawer for Lori to sleep in as a baby.  Eventually we moved up to a Winnebago and Lori got to sleep on a real mattress! Many family vacations and memories similar to those of the Partridge Family came from that green bus…except we aren’t as talented as them.

The Uno Sandwich
Named after Grandpa “Uno” Gull.  The sandwich is chocked full of everything, just like Grandpa was.  He always said, “There are 2 kinds of good….good and good for….”  Although he died in 1985, his stories and memories of “lumpy oatmeal” and a good “eye opener” live on.

The Dietz Sandwich
Named after the kid who locked his mom out of the house to count his money.  Always looking for a good investment, and boy did he find one in Crystal Coffee!  Kelly (Lynelle’s husband) won’t eat a vegetable to save his life, yet he puts artichokes on his sandwich.
The Ruby
(our Italian Grilled 3 Cheese)

Previous owner Rita Schounard came up with this delectable sandwich, which isn’t on our menu board but has been a popular request! Oh yeah, “Ruby” is the nickname we give Rita AND who also is the first person ever married at Crystal Coffee Café & Beanery.
